We do not accept or work with
insurance plans for reimbursement.

Seeking treatment with an “out of network” provider or specialist such as myself in private practice is a personal choice. Only you can make that decision. It has to work for you. I encourage you to review your out-of-network benefits if available, and treatment costs with your insurance carrier. Some insurances may provide some out-of-network benefits. You will need to research this on your own. We can provide you with paid invoices you can directly submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Mental Health Awareness & COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic certainly has created many challenges in how people live their lives. Disruption after disruption, with altered daily routines and more social isolation, these changes can have a lasting impact on mental health. You may worry about getting sick, how long the pandemic will last, whether your job is secure, and what the future holds for you and your family. These added pandemic stressors can make your life feel out of control. During the pandemic, many people experience stress, anxiety, depression and isolation. With that being said, mental health and substance use disorders, are becoming much more prevalent and symptoms are becoming more severe.

Several studies conducted during the COVID -19 pandemic already show a significant increase in the number of U.S. adults who report symptoms of anxiety, depression and insomnia. New research also shows people who had survived COVID-19 infection were significantly more likely to develop mental health disorders and more likely to experience declines in brain function. Those with substance use disorders, notably those addicted to tobacco or opioids, may have worse outcomes if they acquire COVID-19. These addictions, if left untreated, along with getting COVID-19 infection, can further worsen lung function, breathing, and weaken the immune system altogether. This can increase the risk of serious complications from COVID-19.

Recognizing early warning signs of mental health and substance use disorders is vitally important. This is especially crucial now that we are in a global pandemic. Check out Dr. Patel’s YouTube videos on how to recognize early warning signs of depression and anxiety and how to stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Help is available, hope is on its way!
